Our History

From his secondary school days, Oreofe Williams had developed passion for Theatre Productions and this was buttressed by his election as first President of the Drama Club of Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode. In ’98, he led the group to other secondary schools for Theatre Performances. An Orphan from the age of 4, he was, for many years, ashamed of this fact until he was eventually convinced that ‘to be fatherless and motherless was nobody’s choice and should affect no destiny negatively’.

Oreofe Williams proceeded to Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) Ogun State, Nigeria, where he graduated with Second Class Upper Division in English cum subsidiary in Theatre Arts (and emphasis on Dramatic Literature). Apart from being the best graduating student, He won awards for two sessions as the best Creative Writer of the year and became OOU Theatre Legend (SUG Award) under “Afrika Wee”. He was once the Drama Director of Foursquare Students’ Fellowship , Drama Director of Joint Believers’ Summit, National Theatre Director of the National Fellowship of Foursquare students, Director of the Departmental Theatre Workshop and Theatre Director of NYSC Theatre Troupe in Niger State during his service year. At ‘Paiko’ in Niger State, he led his Platoon- P 7 to the inter-platoon Drama Competition and came 1st. He scripted the play within a few hours and the cast and crew were ready for action. As an undergraduate, he was able to write and direct sixteen standard plays under the auspices of Oreofe Theatre Foundation and OREOFE FILMS & THEATRE PRODUCTIONS COMPANY. Among his audience of spectators were the great OSUITES, academic and non-academic staff, and invited dignitaries like Prince Dele Odule, Yemi Shodimu, Saheed Balogun, Antar Laniyan, Deji Adenuga and the then Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel who stormed OOU only to attend the Oreofe Theatre Show without previous political affiliations. This was the first time any sitting Governor would attend a student’s show on campus. Also, he was the first as a student to involve Senior Lecturers on campus in his plays. Oreofe Williams also had an early exposure to Media Art as he and his ally, Wale Asifat, under the tutelage of Yemi Shodimu, presented a top Nigerian TV show, Gbarada, for two years on Lagos Television, Ikeja.

Oreofe Williams produced his first movie ADEOTI in 2006, while on the 27th September, 2007, he received the clear mandate to “present meaningful stage and film productions to cleanse your world and raise many giants from your generations” .

As a result of a Divine instruction to “employ unusual messengers to preach the usual message”, Oreofe Williams became the most controversial film minister in Nigeria with severe verbal attacks from a few young and elderly Drama Ministers who found it against their doctrines to see the Odules, the Laniyans, the Ogunmolas and the rest in Gospel films. Not until this tradition began did anyone come to the awareness that Tunbosun Odunsin, a famous secular actor is a Pastor in one of the Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria. Little did we know that the famous Funsho Adeolu is a dedicated and vibrant worker in The Redeemed Christian Church Of God in Nigeria while Gbenga Richard is a servant at The Living Faith Church(Winners’ Chapel). The popular Rose Odika who is an Evangelist and also a music minister, just to mention a few. Nobody knew that the Late Iyabo Momoh(Mama Ajasco) would have accepted Christ after participating in Gospel films before leaving a sinful world.

Apart from film productions, Oreofe Williams was once a University Scholar at the Department of English and Performing Arts of OOU where he assists in teaching Dramatic literature, Creative Writing and Film Studies. Based on divine instruction, Oreofe Williams resigned to face the Mandate fully. To the glory of God, he has successfully produced intellectual films of international standards, films like Orisa Mimo, Pastors by Emergency, Recession in Heaven to name a few. He is happily married to Adejoke a business Strategist,Administrator, publisher and teacher of the WORD and they are blessed with wonderful children.
